Books For Kids

On June 10th, 2010 Tina visited the Harlem Day Care Center in New York to speak about the importance of books. She read to the little girls and boys and encouraged them to read and write so they could possibly be writers (especially comedy writers) in the future. Tina financed a total of 6 libraries in Harlem and other boroughs.

  • YAI Network – Central Park Challenge – Walk. Run. Change Lives for People with Disabilities

    On June 5th, 2010 Tina participated in YAI and Broadview Networks 25th Annual Central Park Challenge, benefiting the YAI Network which supports people with disabilities and their families.

    The YAI Networks’ official spokesperson, Sherri Shepherd, co-host of ABC-TV’s The View, her friends Tina Fey and Grizz Chapman of NBC-TV’s 30 Rock, and Bill Ritter, Co-Anchor of WABC-TV’s Eyewitness News and a longtime supporter of the YAI Network, brought their passion and enthusiasm to the event. Diane Neal of Law & Order Special Victims Unit and other cast members from the off Broadway show “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” Jonathan Clarke of Q104.3 F.M., Stormi Henley, Miss Teen USA 2009, and Laila Robbins, appearing off Broadway in “That Face,” helped attract a record crowd to support the YAI Network.

    “YAI and Broadview Network’s Central Park Challenge was our most successful event, not only in raising critical funds to support the people we serve but also in raising public awareness about the rights of people with disabilities, of all ages, to learn, grow and lead dignified lives in the community,” said Dr. Philip H.   • The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Light The Night Walk

    In 2009 Tina was announced as the national spokesperson for the Light The Night Walk benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She signed up as spokesperson for the organisation, which conducts research and provides support for cancer victims, after watching her friend Jen Rogers’ (Robert Carlock’s wife) brave battle with the disease.

    Tina says, “It’s gonna be a cold night but we’re gonna be out there. It’s the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk. We’re gonna walk the Brooklyn Bridge, it’s gonna be rough.”

    “A very good friend of mine was diagnosed with Lymphoma and is now a survivor. She’s a young woman, a young mother; this disease affects families so much.”

    “Every four minutes someone is diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease or leukaemia or lymphoma. So come on out, there’s walks all over the country, not just in New York.”

  • Mercy Corps

    Tina is also a supporter of Mercy Corps, a global relief and development organization, in their campaign to end world hunger. She narrated a video for Mercy Corps’s Action Center in New York City, describing hunger as a symptom of many wider world problems.

  • Clothes Off Our Back

    The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation is an organization that hosts charity auctions. Items are put up for bid to the public with proceeds going to benefit children’s charities. Tina has donated clothes and an autographed 30 Rock script to support this cause.

    Tina supports of the Love Our Children USA organization, which fights violence against children. In 2009 she was one of the recipients of Love Our Children USA‘s “Mothers Who Make A Difference” awards.

  • Autism Speaks

    Tina showed her support for Autism Speaks and its mission of autism awareness and research by wearing the organization’s blue puzzle piece lapel pin on her gown during the 2007 Golden Globe Awards. Autism Speaks has grown into the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
