The nominations for the very first Comedy Awards – honoring both movies and TV – have been revealed, and the television nominees are led by 30 Rock with seven nominations! The winners are being selected by professionals from the comedy community-including producers, writers, performers, directors and stand-ups. The awards show will tape March 26 in New York City and will air April 10 on Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1, CMT and Nick At Nite. Since Tina Fey is nominated for several awards herself, she’s expected to turn up for the ceremony. Stay tuned for more on this.

Great news! Tina Fey is in discussions to star in Universal’s adaptation of Jean Hanff Korelitz’s novel Admission, the actress’ publicist has confirmed to The Wrap.
Paul Weitz is set to direct the film, which concerns an admissions officer at Princeton and her relationship with a prospective student who may not be Ivy League material.
The project is still in the formative stages of coming together and has not been greenlit yet, but Fey has read the book and met with Weitz about taking on the role.
Weitz is producing through his company, Depth of Field, along with Kerry Kohansky Roberts, while screenwriter Karen Croner adapted the novel.
The final box office numbers are in, and debuting at number one is the super-hero themed animated family film Megamind, which stars Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt! The movie made $12,082 on each of its 3,944 screens for an opening weekend total of about $47.6 million. Rounding off the top five are Due Date, For Colored Girls, Red and Saw 3D, respectively. The animated superhero comedy Megamind ruled the box office opening day. Boasting voice-over contributions from Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt, the movie opened in first place with $12.5 million. Debuting at number two and three were Due Date and For Colored Girls, respectively. Final box office results for the entire opening weekend will be reported tomorrow!

Tina Fey voices the role of reporter Roxanne Ritchi in the animated superhero-movie, co-starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and David Cross. It’s gotten mostly good-to-great reviews, so be sure to check out Megamind at your local cinema this weekend!
